Did I miss you again?

Developed within Barakeh’s ongoing The Shake series, Did I miss you again? returns to Maurice Harron’s public sculpture Hands Across the Divide, installed beside Craigavon Bridge in Derry~Londonderry—a city whose contested naming itself registers competing political histories. Harron’s two bronze figures extend their hands towards one another across a narrow interval, embodying reconciliation between communities shaped by the divisions of the Troubles. Yet the handshake is never completed.

Barakeh translates this monumental, static encounter into a compact kinetic installation. High-resolution 3D scans of the two figures are reproduced as monochrome miniatures, each mounted on its own circular clock mechanism. Positioned side by side and set to different time zones linked to sites of ongoing political conflict, they rotate as time passes. Their outstretched hands repeatedly approach, fall out of alignment, and pass one another without touching.
